rockets win because they can now physically sign pierce, if he hadn't have been able to trade rider, Pierce would have had to move to a different team.

trust me Miami, I have lost my fair share of trades thats for sure. The only reason I even deal Rider is because I have Paul Pierce and wanna play him. otherwise I just dealt a 20 + ppg scorer per game and an underrated defender for two career backups and a crappy pick.

we talk about paul pierce because when he comes up to his contract year, he would have had (in theory) Z, Kemp, Mcdyess, Rider, Allen and Anderson signed to Max contracts, making it physically impossible to sign pierce therefore forcing him to move to a different team.

Big win for the Knicks. He gave up bums and a soon-to-be-shit pick for a 25-30 ppg scorer. Yeah, so what, his contract sucks... He's good, he's like VC just matured...

I think its a win for the knicks.. The object is to win now, and obviously dealing rider is a blow to the rockets.. yes it clears cap space later (what 2-3 years down the road he can resign pierce) its not like he couldnt trade rider later too..
That said Pierce will be at A- D.. A- outside this year with a good TC and needs to play, but losing rider does hurt his bench a bit, and he'll not be able to recover that at least in the short term without making another deal. Knicks basically give up crap for rider to me makes sense, the knicks need scoring..

Exactly... this might put the Warriors on top of the West in my mind. The thing they had going against them was how deep the Rockets are, but if Mullin can stay up and he can get a few more upgrades out of his bums (and Mobley could be a surpise)... well, the Rockets might want JR back soon...
His contract isn't that bad.. 4 years, its doable cause he is only 28..

I would like to point out that I have the one thing that totally blows Golden State out of the water that he has no answer for.........his arch nemesis Arvydas!!! Memphis come out of the West, wait and see.

I think Big Ben can guard Arvy... He is quick, and plays great D, if there was any C I wouldn't want on Sabonis it's Big Ben... Unless you are going to try to work him inside, then Sabonis' size might be too much, but they you limit yourself with him and take away what makes him such a special center... I'd say "Fuck it" and trade me Sabonis and Peja for Rik and Hill

well dont' forget I have about 2500 pps to use on PP or anyone else. I said in my thread that I was giving up some talent but thats ok. I have been doubted before and still did well. Heck this last year most people picked me as a 4-8 seed in the west. Watch out Pete.

I'm not doubting. I am just saying it was a great trade for the Knicks. I understand a cost cutting move, you need to make em, you got solid worth back, nothing against you, but what Swoosh did was what lesser GMs don't do..

yeah i definitely did like the deal for swoosh. although I will say that I offered rider to just about everyone and swoosh seemed to be the only one willing to take him. I probably will have to make some moves to add some talent back in my roster. Right now I suppose i am looking at trading a few of my 11 firsts for talent.
