Magic trade: Cuttino Mobley #9 #11 #17
Dallas trades: #8
I get top 8 talent, the Mavs pick up depth. Who wins more? Less cap for me to pay now, and again... Dallas gets more depth...

I really like this for both teams. At this point Dallas needs as many good young players and trade bait as he can get and he now has quite a few picks after starting with just one. Orlando doesn't need quantitiy and gets better quality as the draft drops off talent wise after 8.

Mavs I would have to say won this one....he gave up the 8 and only had to move down one spot to get more....great move for the Mavs.

Great move for the Mavs, it isn't like the talent is gonna be that much worse at 9, 11 and 17. Good move for them.

I definatly like this move for the mavs now that involves the extra pick and Mobley.. Only dropped one spot too picked up a player and two more picks.. solid move

Yeah, I agree this was a good move for the Mavs, but I go from looking at JCraw and MoPete at 9 to looking at one of the following:
Lamar Odom Corey Maggette Michael Redd
...at 8. Unless Magloire falls, which I doubt, one of those 3 should be there still at 8. And one of them makes much more sense for me than JCraw and burning up cap with 2 other picks. I hate to lose Mobley, but he'll be a good fit and get some PT in Dallas.

one woulda thought 9 and 11 would be enough, let alone mobley and 17

That was more of a cap saving maneuver. I should have asked him to take Croshere too, but oh well, I figured I'd hafta over pay to move up, and I wanted more money to spend on Pete's players

Perhaps, but, I helped a team with a great, great need for talent. It worked out for both of us.
