Am I the only person who hasn't forgot that Swoosh has won titles before? His picks will not be bad, I guarantee it.

Swoosh has won titles, and I don't think his pick this year will be worth a shit. BUT, I think in 2 years it will be hard for him to trade a 33 year old LJ with a huge contract, or a 33 year old Kemp with an awful contract. I think he'll be fine, but the age is going to be a problem he'll have to deal with.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't have both of them moved by next season so we won't be worrying about them in 03.

He'll probably have Kemp moved, but LJ is gonna want a huge contract, so if he still has him and re-signs him this offseason. He'll still be a 32 year old with a MAX (or near MAX) deal, so it will be hard to deal him.

LJ won't get a full 7 year MAX, at least not from a competant GM.

Good point. He'll still probably get a 3-4 year contract, though.

And LJ at a 3-4 year 12millionish deal will still be a great player. And like I said, even hanging onto a guy who can play multiple positions as apposed to RIder who can only play the 3 seems like a better move as well. However I'm sure Kemp will be shipped out anyways.

LJ should still be good, but you know about the rebuilding trend here (and this definitely includes me). Might be hard to deal him. Like I said, I like the deal for Swoosh, but the '03 does have a chance of being decent.

But you have to look at teams that are gonna be competing in the next 3 seasons that may want a solid player like him. The top teams will always be there (me, Atl, GS, Orlando) plus teams that will be developed in the next few seasons like the Suns, Clippers, Wizards, 76ers, Twolves (rebuild). There will be plenty of takers for a guy like LJ that should stick around that A- to B+ inside and A to B+ defense for a bit longer.

Here was my basic reasoning for the deal: 1. Rider is a bum that nobody wanted and I got for scrubs from the Rockets before last season. I revived his career last season when having a balanced player made sense, and he put up great numbers while buying my team a 1st round sweep right out of the playoff. He can't play the 2, and he can't play defense at the 3. Throw in the fact that he turns the ball over something ridiculous, and he was a poor fit in my (or any GM's looking to win) game plan. 2. Kemp has a bum contract, but is a great player still in his prime. When used in an inside focused offense properly, his shooting percentage will improve, and his size is a much bigger asset at PF than LJ's 6'6" frame. Add on his A defense, and he's still worth the cash at 31. 3. When have I ever worried about what my players will look like in 2-3 years? I rotate rosters more than anyone in the league when I'm active, and there has been enough chatter from certain bums who think I've lost my edge (looking at you Aaron) to keep me focused for at least a short while. 4. Along the same vein, why would I care about my picks? Have I ever had a pick land below 20 in a season I've GMed from start to finish? 5. I'm a freaking sim genius!!! Why would you doubt me?

I don't doubt you, but I hear Sabonis would like to play for you again and Kemp has been rumored to be a big Elvis fan.

LOL Sabonis is always welcome...but it would take more than his aging ass to get Kemp off me. By the way, do I get to claim your win as my third title since I essentially built your championship team?

No matter what you say I think that pick in 03 might be good. Heck even this years is an injury away from lotto. Time will tell, it could go either way but I'd much rather have a knicks pick than a Magic/Grizz/Warriors/hawks/Spurs etc..

Suns, how is this season an injury away from lotto? I could lose either LJ or Kemp and still walk my way into the playoffs in the crappy East...there is a difference between making the playoffs and seriously competing there.
