The Utah Jazz announced a midnight hiring of former Miami Heat gm bjscho23 and the move has caused quite the stir in the ABCA.
For those that can remember a season ago, Bjscho23 was suspended from the league for making derogatory comments about commissioners. This was a punishment that was justified in his opinion. "I agree that what I did was out of line. I wouldn't put myself in the same category as Pete Rose or anything, but I could've been more honest in my dealings and the problem could've been avoided. I have missed Miami greatly, but I'm excited about this new opportunity to come to Utah and see what happens."
Bjscho23 expressed excitement at the roster. "This team caused me fits when I was in Miami so this isn't a bad situation to be in. We are talking about the #2 seed in the WEstern Conference last season. I am fortunate to have a solid base of Kobe, KG and Tim Duncan to build around. Are we good enough to win it all? I think so, but we'll take a closer look at those things as we go on. I haven't talked to any of the players or Coach Sloan yet so we'll see about some things, but how can you not like what you have on this roster?"
The Jazz have been a team in distress lately after losing gm Mario, who was a long time fixture. Then a short tenure with another gm seemed to have ruffled some feathers. Time will tell how the Jazz do this season and this hiring is sure to turn some heads. Bjscho23 may be just what the league needs to turn around decreasing interest among fans and gm's in general. Owner Larry H. Miller thinks he picked the right guy. "I interviewed him after his suspension was over and I couldn't believe that we were going to get him. He's smart, great dresser, all the ladies love him, he's the anti-Mario I guess you could say." "He brings experience and was a couple wins away from a title a few years back. He took that Heat team from the junkpile to the Finals and I expect the same thing to happen in Salt Lake City."
