ORLANDO---Earlier this week the Orlando Magic traded starting Shooting Guard, and one of the better scorers on a team with little scoring, to Washington for Darrell Walker, a Point Guard.
It seems as if Nate McMillan will go back to playing Shooting Guard and either Walker or Strickland will get the starts when play resumes after the All-Star Break.
"Just get me the ball. I don't care which little guy is it, just one of them, find me, and get it to me. That's what we need to do to be successful. Get me the ball more.", said Charles Barkley.
It looks like a set up of two point guard type players will start. While the defense of this back court is one of the best in the league, the offensive production is towards the bottom. The Magic need to find a way to manufacture more points if they want to win games, especially in the playoffs.
In the deal they also took in the Bullets First Round Pick this year which looks like it will be a high lottery selection. The team is excited about the possibility of adding a Gary Payton, Derrick Coleman or Arvydis Sabonis to a playoff caliber squad.
Certain rumors have been circling about the Magic trading Rod Strickland and keeping McMillan at the Point. It's been common knowledge that the Magic's management team has been shopping Rod around for a while. Did they finally get an offer that spiked their interest?
Likely deals would involve either a Small Forward or Shooting Guard who can score. If a Small Forward is traded for, expect Jerome Kersey to be move to Shooting Guard to fill the starting role there.
