Mid-Season Awards
General Manager[/u]
jamesdeane1977 - Orlando Magic
It's been a couple seasons removed since the JScott era of dominance and the Magic have gone through their first losing season in Retro ABCA history since then. However, the Magic appear to be back on top of their game as they once again have reclaimed the lead in the Atlantic Division. Give credit where credit is due. I don't think anyone expected the Magic to be this good coming into the season but they are and jamesdeane has made some very solid moves especially the one that has brought Peja Stojakovic to this squad.
Most Improved Player[/u]
Carlos Boozer - Washington Wizards
Carlos may be playing on a lowly Washington Wizards team but his statistics have improved drastically and he was showing that capability when he started off the season as a Los Angeles Laker. Boozer is an exclusive member to the 20 and 10 club and should be proud of that. Carlos is constantly working on his game and don't be surprised if he becomes one of the league's best big men in the next couple years.
Sixth Man[/u]
Garrett Johnson - Dallas Mavericks
Garrett is a special young player who is doing double duty as key reserve for the Blazers' backcourt positions. He is a huge part to their success this year and last year. Johnson is a player that is still on the rise and will continue to play an important role if the Blazers want to repeat this year.
Defensive Player
Yao Ming - San Antonio Spurs
Yao wants to prove that it was a mistake for the Jazz to give him up. He's stepped up his production since coming to the Spurs and is having probably his best season ever. He's averaging over 13 and a half rebounds a game which is the most right now in the league. He's also blocking 4 shots a game which is 2nd in the league. Yao is showing that he's a force on the defensive end as well as the offensive.
Rookie[/u]
LeBron James - Phildelphia 76ers
LeBron plays like a seasoned vet yet we must remind ourselves that he is only a rookie. There has probably been no rookie like Lebron in Retro ABCA's history. He is averaging an astounding 29.8 points per game which ranks as 4th among the top scorers in the game. He's also managing to pull down 8 rebounds a game and dish out nearly 6 assists a game. LeBron is truly the king and he's showing the world that he is going to be a force for many years to come.
MVP[/u]
LeBron James - Philadelphia 76ers
This may cause quite a conversation amongst GMs but I truly feel that LBJ is also the league's MVP at this point. Once again, looking at the statistics - there is no one who has ever been a rookie to dominate the league like he has coming out of college. Also, look at the impact he has made on the 76ers franchise. Just one season ago - this team was the worst in the league and now they are second in their division. The team did not make too many changes other than landing Luke Ridnour and Lorenzo Snow - both young guys who have seen a rise in their game while playing alongside LeBron. James could possibly be the first player in Retro ABCA history to win both the Rookie of the Year and MVP awards at the same time.
