Here are some of the players who obviously suck either because of ratings, contract, or a combination of both. These are players that are being overvalued because of their name.
Tracy McGrady
T-Mac is not a franchise player. He's pretty good as a secondary wingman to Lebron in Philly and he really doesn't suck. However, because his name is Tracy McGrady some newbie GM might try and overpay for him despite his ratings obviously not being as good as what he is in real life. McGrady will never be a guy that you can count on to build around so if you are a new GM - don't be fooled by the name. He's a career 18 point per game scorer and a defensive stopper - and nothing more.
Richard Jefferson
I recall reading the new New Jersey Net's trade block and saw that he was offering something like Richard Jefferson and Mickael Pietrus for Ike Diogu, Charlie V, and Stephen Jackson. That has to be the worst and most ridiculous looking offer from a newbie GM I have ever seen. First off - Richard Jefferson is not even as good as Stephen Jackson so why the heck is he asking for Ike Diogu and Charlie V in addition to S-Jax for just RJ and MP? Jefferson is complete garbage and a waste of cap space at the money he is making. I never understood why UO offered that much money in the first place when he already had Mickael Pietrus (who can play SF) and had just drafted Ben Gordon. But anyways - back to the point. Richard Jefferson sucks and the new GM is probably going to have to add someone like a Darko just to get rid of him.
Al Harrington
The new Memphis GM tried to offer Al Harrington for the Spurs pick and an expiring filler. Ugly terrible offer by the Grizz to even think that was a realistic possibility. Al Harrington has pretty decent ratings - definitely much better than what they've been in year's past. However, he's no where near worth a 77 million dollar contract for 6 years starting at 10 million dollars. Like the Nets - the Grizz are going to have to compensate someone to take this guy off their hands.
Allen Iverson
This dude is the king of all overrated and overvalued players. I am currently paying this guy 17.5 million dollars to come off my bench and all he's giving me is 5 points a game. Allen Iverson is garbage and has never lived up to his real-life potential. If you are new GM - don't let me take advantage of your newbie status and rip you off by trading you AI for even a future first round pick. AI is worth nothing right now and the only reason I have him is because I was able to get McDyess and Szczerbiak in a deal from the Hornets.
