For many years in Golden State the fans were so very accustomed to making the playoffs and having good deep playoff runs. Now they see a young team struggling to find its identity and showing signs and flashes of what might come in the future for this team. Many of the fans were skeptical of the drafting of Ronnie Brewer, but he has shown he can definitely hold his own on the court and is one of the rising stars on this team.
Some even though that Zydrunas Ilgauskas was not the player the Warriors should have went after with so much money, but really since the trade of Ben Wallace this squad truly hasn't had a player that could hold their own down low on the blocks. How much that has changed this season with Zydrunas Ilgauskas averaging just shy of 19 points per game, and barely under 13 rebounds per game. His defense has been good as well getting 3.4 blocks per game. It makes the other teams possibly alter their game plan of taking it to the hole, or making their offensive mindset go to an outside attack to which might lead to more rebounds to pad his stats.
Gordan Giricek, a player again who some say was a mistake is playing solid as the starting point guard. He is showing his ability to get the steals and convert them to points at the other end. Something seems to have him playing well and the rest of the team even though they are young they are still playing hard and trying to win as many games as they possibly can.
General Manager John Rockwell has been trying to figure out how he forsee's this franchise's direction to be going. He has been there for the playoff runs, and now he see's the franchise struggling and that is something that might happen from time to time with any franchise, but the biggest question has to be where do they go from here?
Sitting at 21-26, which isn't terrible but in the strong western conference anything other than above .500 won't get it done. He has debated on just watching the remainder of the season and see how many games they can win and go for a lottery pick. But, with that thought in mind will he still have the fans support that he hasn't had to worry about since he arrived? Some think he will be just fine considering the fact he is trying to get the team better and just that simply put the franchise is falling on some hard times.
Just the simple fact that it might be time for a coaching change hasn't even crossed the mind of anyone in the front office and to prove that move even more so the owner and the gm have said that the head coach will not be getting the pink slip. Still this team has room to grow and things can't go any worse for this franchise as many around the league watch it and wonder how things will look for the remainder of this season and many seasons yet to come.
