Vince Carter shipped off to Utah in blockbuster trade
Denver, CO -- (AP)
Coming off a stretch of games where the team lost starters Chris Paul and Nene Hilario to lengthy injuries, rumours immediately began swirling about trade possibilities and who might be heading where. After a few phone calls, news outlets first began reporting of the trade and then it was announced. The Nuggets had shipped off Vince Carter and a future 1st round pick to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Tim Duncan.
Tim Duncan has averaged 19.2 points, 12.9 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in 45 games this season.
Spending the last 2 1/2 seasons in Denver, Vince Carter quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his highlight reel dunks and scoring ability. When questioned about the trade, Carter reponded "I was shocked honestly. I thought I had a good thing here, but that's the way this sport is. No complaints, I'll just be doing my thing elsewhere." commented Vince Carter.
After spending the 1st 9 seasons of his career in San Antonio, Tim Duncan joins his 3rd team in 2 seasons. Playing with Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant in Utah, Duncan averaged around 18 PPG and 12 RPG. "He's definitely the big body we've been needing. He can rebound with the best of them, block shots, and can get in the paint to score. The loss of Vince (Carter) is a big blow, but I love what Tim (Duncan) brings to our team." commented GM dasm0kesh0w2474.
Vince Carter has averaged 27.1 PPG during his 10 year career.
Could there be more trades on the horizon? Perhaps. Names like Nene Hilario, Eddie Griffin, Jake Tsakalidis and Mateen Watts have all been mentioned in trade talks at some point this season, but it has been all rumours to this point. With star point guard Chris Paul out at least another month, things will only get harder before it gets easier in Denver.
