Toronto AP - The Raptors ended the season on a very high note, finished the year 43-39 and clinched the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference . This was all thanks to the big name aquisitions of Kevin Garnett, Kenyon Martin, Jamal Crawford, Dajuan Wagner and Bryant Reeves that helped this team make a huge leap in the standings and fall right into the playoffs. "We feel like this is the best team this franchise has had in its history and i can say that ive turned around a franchise that was in the dumpster for a few years." said Raptors GM to the Toronto AP. Now the team will face the 3rd seed Milwaukee Bucks that will present an all-star matchup of Amare Stoudamire vs. Kevin Garnett. It should be very interesting to see how the Raptors adjust to fill their holes as injuries will hurt them in this series. Jamal Crawford and Kenyon Martin are potentially out for the whole series and this will affect the Raptors depth.
The nine year veteran Cuttino Mobley will get the start at the small forward position tonight in replace of the injured Kenyon Martin. "This is a chance you always prepare for, i will do anything this team asks me to do. " said Cuttino Mobley to the Toronto AP. Also veteran guard Alvin Williams to signed this offseason as a free agent was activated to the roster and will be the backup shooting guard to Dajuan Wagner throughout this series until Martin returns to the lineup. "Williams provide that veteran experience and he has terrific range from long distance that is going to be key for us." said Raptors Coach Billy Donovan.
On the other hand, the Raptors announced last night that they resigned G Dajuan Wagner to a 6 year contract worth around 72 million which will put him in Toronto for quite some time. "Im glad we got into an agreement, getting traded from the Hornets to here, i wanted to get some stability and helping this team make a playoff push was big for me. I like this team and its fans." said Raptors Guard Dajuan Wagner to the Toronto AP. The Raptors also locked up Kenyon Martin to a contract extension but the terms were indisclosed, they will later be announced when the final papers are processed.
