With the 13th pick in the Draft this year, the Clippers chose Chase Budinger. Although the Clippers really needed a PF, they elected to surpass the few left and jump at the opportunity to get Budinger.
GM Boomerpurser stated that he just couldn't not let this young man pass. He believes that Budinger has the potential to be a top SF/SG in the league.
Budinger was a stand out at The University of Arizona. Lute Olsen said Budinger maybe the best player to every pass through the Wildcats program. That big considering the Alumni: Damon Stoudamire, Gilbert Arenas, Richard Jefferson, Andre Iguodala, and many more.
The Clippers management think that Chase was very under-rated and scouted. Even after he shared the co-MVP honors of the McDonald's classic with, non other than last years first pick in the draft Kevin Durant.
We caught up with Durant and this is what he had to say about the rookie.
Ivana Hawdwon: Kevin what do you think about this years pick in the draft
Durant: I think it's great, Chase can play. I mean the boy's got mad skills. He shoots lights out. I remember after the classic watching ESPN, waiting for my high-lights and only seeing him.
Hawdwon: So there's no hard feelings, on your behalf over the two of you possible competing for the same position.
Durant: Well I'm a SF/PF and he's a SF/SG, so I know they can figure it out some how. I mean of course we'll compete, but I know they'll put our best on the floor. I'm a team player so if that's him over me or I have to split time, it doesn't matter as long as I get my ring.
Hawdwon: So do where do you rate him among this years draftees.
Durant: I'd have to say top 5, definitely. I was dumbfounded when he dropped to 13, and then ecstatic when we got him. You have to give him top five just for the dunk in the Classic a couple years back. That was a massive in your face VC dunk. Both teams and the whole crowd was so hype after that.

Hawdwon: Thank you for this interview Mr. Durant, and good luck this year.
Durant: Thanks...
Well have to stay tuned for the outcome of the rookie. Till then we'll brief up our beloved Clippers.
