Entering the Heat’s training camp you may need a roster card. With 8 new players added this off-season, 6 of which should get significant playing time next year, the team has new hope and a new direction. “I came in here looking to make some big changes,” Said the New-Heat GM, “not only on the roster, but on the expectations of the team.” Here’s how each position breaks down:
Newcomer Bogut was National College Player of the Year in 2004-05

No familiar faces here with all three players being acquired this off-season. The 25 year old Andrew Bogut looks to be the obvious starter in this group. “He’s got great skills for a guy his age,” said the Heat’s GM, “We feel he has great potential and are glad we have him locked up for the next five years .” The backup job is up for grabs between free agent signing Gage Day and the number five pick in the draft BJ Mullens. “Mullens is an incredible talent,” said the Heat’s GM, “The sky is the limit for him, its just a question of how quickly he can get ready for the NBA game.”
Jianlian will look to silence critics with questions
Power Forward
With Jianlian and Millsap returning, this is probably the most familiar group as well as the most questionable. Free agent signing Michael Ruffin rounds out the group, and at 33 years old, questions surround him on how much he has left. “We felt that Yi and Paul who are 22 and 24 respectively needed a veteran to anchor the position.” said the Heat’s GM, “Yi will probably be the starter on opening day, but the position is up for grabs if he doesn’t produce.”

Small Forward
Three new faces here, with the biggest signing of the year for the Heat in Rashard Lewis. Free agent Gavin Grant and second round pick Raymar Morgan will be in competition for the second line duty. “Rashard is an unbelievable scorer, and a great defender.” said the Heat’s GM, “We will look to him for leadership not only at his position, but on the whole team.” “We picked Raymar in the second because of his great defense and his ability to grow. We feel if you can play defense and learn, we want you on our team.”
Shooting Guard
Eric Gordon will look to add on to an incredible rookie season last year, by having another big year. “Last year was great,” said Gordon, “But this year I am looking to not only have good numbers, but show I can help my team win games.” Alando Tucker looks to be the backup with great defense and outside shooing and he will be backed up by Alonzo Gee who is in the last year of his contract.
Calderon will look to bring his International flare to Miami
Point Guard
This position will be split by returner Chris Duhon and newcomer Jose Calderon. “We will look to have a three guard rotation with Chris, Jose, and Eric,” said the Heat’s GM, “All three of those guys have incredible skills and we want them to be on the floor as much as possible.” “Chris had a great season last year, and while we respect him as a player, he will have to take a step back for the team and fill other roles for our team.” Odd man out in this group will be returner Jarrett Jack.
