*Effective NEXT offseason 2004*
Ok, teams have been able to get around our current hardcap rule a bit cause of the way we are using it.. right now teams that go over the hardcap have until next years draft to get back under before they lose a pick etc.. although they cannot use MLE's and LLE's right away
That said AFTER this season this new rule is put into effect..
Any signing / trade that puts a team over the hardcap during the regular season is not allowed.. during the offseason a team has until opening day to get under the hard cap or lose a random pick (if they have no picks, they lose the last player signed that put them over) and there MLE and LLE signings.. ppt's are also taken (50 pts for every 500,000 over).. If they are over the hardcap during the resigning period they cannot resign a player until they get back under the cap
Modified- Obviously i was not clear that draft picks are included in this rule. IF your over the hardcap at draft time you cannot add players with picks you have to get under the cap to make those picks.. you cannot go over any shape or form at this point or you will lose your pick/ability to FA/draft/mle/lle etc etc..

wat was the penalty before this rule?
in UO's league, the penalty for going over hardcap is the best player (determined by commish) is cut and thrown into the fA pool next offseason...

^That rule is incredibly stupid and unrealistic. I like Prez's much better.

well, it's more incentive for a team to really get under hardcap. i mean, if you had a pretty beastly team with a few max contracts, you wont care how far you go over hardcap. big deal. you lose a pick. you're a big contender and you dont mind being over hardcap if your team is pretty nasty.

You lose more than one pick I believe...and your MLE and LLE for that offseason as well.
Probably should extend it to two first round picks within a 3 year span, as well as take away the MLE and LLE for 2 years which would be randomly selected.

I have 3 max contracts and I'm not going to get to the hard cap anytime soon.
