The San Antonio Express News has received an anonymous list containing the San Antonio Spurs expansion protection list.
As expected, the Spurs list included of its youthful core mixed with several nostalgic veterans. Linking the past and future of the franchise are rookie David Robinson and fan favorite Johnny Moore.
Based on the list, the Spurs line up will consist of Robinson, Cummings, Elliot, Anderson and Moore. Both Robinson and Elliot are rookies acquired with past lottery picks. Elliot was drafted #4 overall during the past summers draft.
Robinson finally arrives in San Antonio two years after he was drafted. Robinson has spent the past two year fulfilling his commitment with the Navy after graduating from the Naval Academy in 1987. Fans have been anticipating Robinson's arrival since he was selected with the number one overall pick, and excited with his impending start.
Equally exciting is the return of fan favorite Johnny Moore, who was unable to play last year. Moore, in his final year of his contract, will retake the reigns of the Spurs point guard this year.
Anchoring the post with Robinson is recent acquisition Terry Cummings. Terry played for the Bucks last year and was acquired via trade for Alvin Robertson and Greg "Cadillac" Anderson. The Spurs front office hope Cummings' experience at power forward will help Robinson's transition back to basketball and the NBA.
Rounding out the roster is second year shooting guard Willie Anderson, the only returning player from last year along with Frank Brickowski.
