Detroit, Michigan: Today when the injury bug can't seem to get away from star point guard Isiah Thomas many originally thought things might slip up. Then when they made the move to pick up backup point guard Pooh Richardson little did they know he would play such a huge role on the team.
Coach Daly recently was qouted saying he was highly impressed by the young Richardson's ability to lead the team when Isiah went down. Proving not only did the teams defense not go down it stayed the same in a majority of cases. He's shown the ability to make good decisions on both ends of the court.
Many people in the Detroit area left out a collective sigh of relief seeing how things have unfolded this season even with everything that has caused their front court. Leaving many to think that their is a possibility that Isiah won't start when he returns. To that Coach Daly made the following statement.
Coach Daly: I can't deny the fact that Pooh has played excellent in Isiah's absence, but the starting spot belongs to Isiah when he is ready to get back out there and from the looks of things he is ready to do just that. We are exploring other options to get Pooh heavily involved in our offense.
The teams defense ranking is 3rd overall and even though they don't score over the century mark they make it up by only allowing less than 90 points a game. Only the Utah Jazz and Philadelphia 76ers have a better standing for points allowed per game.
Many in the motor city are thinking not of just making the playoff's, but they are thinking championship. With the season half over its almost halfway to the goal.
