The Young Retro Season So Far!
Well this season has been a very intriguing one so far. As of right now we have a new leader of the power rankings who is not use to being at the top. This team is the Portland Blazers and their Gm Takeonme. He spent three seasons on the bottom of the league and drafting studs like Curry, Miles, & Melo to make his team a team that will be around for a while. After last seasons Cinderella story march through the playoffs to the finals where they lost to the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks won another title and started sending his vets packing to other teams. The Atlanta Hawks traded and got Deron Williams in the draft and has built a very young team that will be on top for awhile as we see with them being #2 in the power rankings. A team that have had championships and trips to the playoffs every year under J Scott looks to be in the lotto for the first time in quite a while. Yes the Orlando Shaqless Magic are at the bottom of the league as of right now and looks to start a long rebuilding process. Some teams are making the turn around after rebuilding and will look to make a playoff appearance or two in the coming seasons like the Mavericks, T-Wolves, & Utah Jazz (Power House). Mario and the Utah Jazz may be one of the most unexpected jumps in the rankings. They are loaded from top to bottom and look to give the Blazers a run for the West and for the title.
Also this season injuries have ravaged a few teams and some stars are missing some games that will hurt their team’s chances. First Houston Rockets took a big shot with Ben Wallace tearing his ACL and will be out for the 82 more games. Blazers took a step back with the injury of Jerry Stackhouse and will have to start Garrett Johnson for 52 more games until Jerry’s return. Young rookie sensation D. Wade is out with a broken skull he got when he collided with a Cadillac Escalade door after dropping it off for a high school basketball coach to have (Via making a commercial). Other notable injuries are:
We also will take a look at the League Leaders so far in this season! Steve Francis is leading the league in MPG while Kevin Garnett is at a close 2nd. Now here is where it matters in the PPG category and who else but Shaq can score 33 a game at his age with Ray Allen knocking down 31 ppg in 2nd place. RPG is not Rocket Propelled Grenade it is Rebounds Per Game and Timmy Duncan and the Storming Mormon Shawn Bradley are tied for first with 13.2 a game. Top point guards are known for their passing skills and assists so that brings us to the APG leader and it is a tie between J. Crawford & B. Davis at 10.0 APG. If you go in the middle of the paint and try to throw a shot over Yao Ming he may get you with one of his league leading 3.5 BPG. You could also get your pocket picked my StarBury (Stephon Marbury) who is leading Retro with 2.7 SPG. For Shaq to be scoring 33 PPG he has to be throwing a lot of shots up and he is with his leading 25.4 FGAPG. Ike Diogu is shooting the best in the league at 60% while Shaq Daddy is leading the leagues in his third category which is free throw attempts per game. Billups has the lead in FT%, Ginobli jacks up more 3s than anyone one, while Quentin Richardson is shooting 58% form behind the arc. Amare is big and seems to foul more than anyone else in the league so his worst match up would be with Kwame brown who is the 2nd most foul proned player in Retro (Cancel Each other Out). Raymond and Tmac have TO problems this year and I don’t mean Terrell Owens problems but the ones with losing the rock.
