1. 76ers - Lebron James
This is a no brainer selection that the east and the 6ers are in desperate need of. Putting James and T-Mac on the floor together should lead to great things offensively and matchup problems for any team defensively. Lebron is already a star coming into the league and will likely be up with the top dogs in just a season or two
2. Grizzlies - Andrew Bogut
The Grizzlies are a team who needs a couple of holes filled after this last season. They took a huge hit when they lost Shaq to free agency last offseason and now find themselves in a position with basically zero inside presence. Bogut is a solid big who can come straight onto a team and make a difference right away. He’s a 7’ with great defensive and rebounding abilities and would fit perfectly here
3. Hornets - Darko Milicic
The Hornets have a great, young duo with Robinson and Wagner, but like the Grizz are really lacking in bigs. If Bogut falls then I see them taking him, but when he doesn’t, they go for the next best and grab Darko. Also 7’ tall he has the ability to alter shots on defense and his size and rebounding would compliment the ‘shoot first ask questions later’ play styles of Wally and Wagner
4. Sonics - Luol Deng
Seattle is also lacking in big men and would love for Bogut or Darko to slip to here, and when they don’t they could choose to go with Armstrong or Williams, but I think that they draft for talent here and pick up Deng. He’s a great defender and with a point like Hinrich running the show could make for a great run and gun, small ball team
5. Nets - Hilton Armstrong
New Jersey has a very young team with potential to be great. Their backcourt of Barbosa, Gordon, and Jefferson is solid and they look to compliment them with a big. I think they pick Armstrong over Williams here based on size, and could you really see Sean May and Sheldon Williams playing on the same team? Armstrong has the potential to come straight in and start for this team and be the inside anchor that their backcourt needs
6. Warriors - Sheldon Williams
Another team in desperate need of some size… I can see them picking up Morrison and going to a run and gun offense with Tinsley, Miller and Giriceck, but I think they draft for need and draft Williams. He has great defensive presence for his size and the toughness to fight it out with the bigger guys of the league
7. Celtics - Adam Morrison
With the trade of Vince Carter this team really needs to find some scoring, Arenas has potential to step into that role but has yet to live up to his namesake, and that’s why I see them going with Morrison. Jinks has the size to play the 4 and a backcourt of Felton, Arenas, and Morrison… they get a team combination that can outrun their opponents and get a lot of easy buckets
8. Rockets - Brandon Roy
Wow. How did this team fall from grace so severely? Even without Big Ben or Ray, you’d think that Billups and JO on the same team would be enough. But nonetheless they find themselves here. The biggest hole for this team right now is at the 2, and Brandon Roy would be the perfect fit. The best all around player in the draft who’s not Lebron, Roy has the defensive prowess and scoring abilities to compliment the stars on this team perfectly
9. Raptors - Ronnie Brewer
After picking up Diop and Randolph, the Raptors are pretty set with their bigs, and Harris and Wade are a great duo, and what this team needs is a complimentary player to run the 3. I think they pick Brewer here because of his ABCA ready defense. He has the size to play at SF and the athletic ability to stick his man and run the floor with Harris and Wade
10. Magic - Shaun Livingston
The Magic are in desperate need of a point and are really hoping that they can resign Steve Nash this offseason, but either way they could use some more depth at the 1, and they find it in Livingston. He has the size to create matchup problems with any team but still has great handles and passes the ball well. He has the potential to be a great floor general and would fit nicely in Orlando
