Salt Lake Tribune:
The Utah Jazz are about to be broken up. Having failed in their attempts to win the title the past few seasons, the team will be broken up according to gm bjscho23. "We need to do something with these guys. Duncan, Kobe and Kg all deserve shots to move on and really help some teams make a run at a title. After our 1-4 start I started making some calls and got some good interest in Duncan. He's a solid big man that is still one of the best in the game. We'll be able to get some players for him. We've won 7 of 8 and playing well so you never know. We really lack a solid point guard but we just don't have a lot of pieces to use at this point at that position. If we trade we'd have to give up one of the big three and that won't really help us win now."
The Jazz, at 7-5 in the division, have won 7 of their last 8 games while really outscoring teams. Led by Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan and the surprising play of Todd MacCulloch, the Jazz hope to continue the hot streak before being broken up. MacCulloch had some comments about the trade talk..."We all know it is about to happen. Timmy is expiring, Kobe has a year left and we are getting older. We are running out of chances. I didn't sign a worthless 6 year contract for no money for nothing. I want to play for a winner in Utah and it doesn't get any better than playing with these guys here."
Typical speculation says that the Jazz will wait and see how the next few weeks will go before they pull the trigger, but bjscho23 said that isn't necessarily the case. "We will take the best deal that comes along, whether that is today or a month from now. I can't sit around and wait when this team has tried and failed each season they've been together. If you look at when Duncan and Kobe were together in San Antonio they didn't make it there either. My players deserve better and this city deserves a shot at a title. If that is with Timmy then great, if not then hopefully it's a win win for all parties involved."
