Faké eats lunch after practice
The Nuggets GM made a shocking selection in the 2009 Retro ABCA draft when they selected St. Francis NY guard Faké Player. Faké played 17 minutes throughout his college career racking up eight hard fouls and taking two charges. He became known for loving contact.
“I love to play rough,” Player said after a preseason game last year.
Faké is openly gay and made headlines his freshman season at St. Francis when he claimed that he slept with his high school varsity coach. Last week, he signed a two year deal with the Nuggets.
Denver Post sports columnist, BJ Head, whose cousin Luther is a member of the Sacramento Kings, was the first to get an interview with Player.
BJ: So Faké, how do you feel being the first openly gay professional athlete?
FP: It’s interesting. I love being gay and I love basketball. It’s a win-win situation for me. Plus…I’m gettin’ mon-ay (stands up, does the running-man). WOOT!
BJ: That’s nice.
FP: Hells yeah it is. I hope to play for all 29 teams in my career, so I can spread word about homosexuality.
BJ: That’s interesting. What about the basketball part of it?
FP: (Smiles) Well if I can get my hands on some loose balls or something, that’d be great too. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge… Kidding.
BJ: Hah, uh, yeah, ok, so …what…what do you think of the guys on your team.
FP: Well, Joe and Tim both have wives, so... I think Jake and Marquis do to …
BJ: I actually meant basketball-wise.
FP: Oh, AWKWARD. lolz. Well they are all great players.
BJ: (looks at watch). Man has time flew by. I gotta run. Nice to meet you Faké. Good luck during the season
FP: Thanks. By the way, love your name (grins)
