Despite A Slow Start In Washington, Owner/Team President Still Confident In Squad.
(Washington Post)- Fans in Washington asking for the head of team president RocketsToBChamps after a slow start in Washington during his tenure. One anonymous season ticket holder said, "I want to stab the sonuvab***. He took over team with capspace and youth, and turned it into some 13-12 team near the hardcap, what the f*** is this guy's deal? I hate him. I hate him with a passion." This fan is not alone. Many others have been disappointed with the team’s performance thus far. Another fan told the Post, “the Boozer for Arenas and the 17th overall pick (Wayne Ellington) deal, was by far the dumbest deal I have ever seen in my entire life. And while Artest is a stud, Conley will be the best point-guard in this league. What is this guy’s problem? Does he not know anything about running a team?”
RocketsToBChamps told the Post, “we have had a slow start. We are still trying to find that gel, that chemistry.” He went onto say, “I see a lot of promise. I see a potential contender here.” When asked about the Boozer deal, RTBC responded, “it was a bad deal, but I think that we could work through that. We traded Ellington in that deal for Mile Ilic, our starting center who has done a solid job averaging 10.2 RPG and 1.9 BPG while putting up 7.7 PPG on 47% shooting. And while Arenas has not worked out for this squad the way I have wanted him to, we were able to get Marquis Daniels for him this morning. We felt that Arenas and Ellington, now feeling that Daniels and Ilic fits in better to our fast paced game than Boozer would have. And we wish both Boozer and Arenas the best of luck in Philadelphia and Denver (respectively)” When asked about the Artest deal, RTBC responded by saying, “I drafted Conley knowing that he had the potential to be the next great PG, but I also had Hinrich and Arenas on the squad. I wanted to build a competitive team, and did not want to wait for Conley to develop. Artest has been the best player on this team on both ends of the floor. Despite being 6’7”, he is a top-notch power-forward in this league. Los Angeles is a damn good situation for Conley, and we wish him too, the best of luck there.”
Team owner Abe Pollin told the Post, “RocketsToBChamps is not going anywhere. I am very confident in his ability to run a team and feel that with time, this team will come around. We have two premier star forwards in this league in Ron Artest and TayShaun Prince, a fantastic floor general in Kirk Hinrich, and two solid starters to round out the lineup in Mile Ilic and now Marquis Daniels. We sent out a mass e-mail to all of the season ticket holders after the Daniels deal asking them to give our team a chance now that we have decided who the team’s floor general would be, and now that we have a pretty solid SG who can fit into our exciting fast-paced game well.” Pollin went onto say, “there are no players on the squad this year, that were on the squad last year. We are still trying to find that gel, that chemistry, it takes time. But one thing is for sure, we have talent. Once we gel, we will be a dangerous team.”
