at work yesterday i was reading the USAToday and came across this whole system for how they pick the MVP.... and i thought it was interesting, its very complex.... they break it down to 6 Categories... some are team things like Win % and TD(how team ranks in points, rebounds, etc..) and how you do as an individual player.... i thought it was pretty interesting 1. Win % - team winning percentage 2. Rank Points - rankings among league leaders in seven categories (field goal percentage, free throw percentage, rebounds, assists, steals, blocked shots and points) added together. 3. PPS - points per shot (field goal attempts plus free throw attempts divided by total points scored). 4. Hands - average steals plus blocked shots minus average turnovers plus personal fouls. 5. TD (team dominance) - average points, rebounds and assists divided by team averages in the same categories. 6. BGP - big game performance (total number of games with a triple double, 40+ points, 20+ rebounds, 20+ assists, 10+ steals or 10+ block shots). www.usatoday.com/sports/basketball/nba/2007-03-19-scorers-table_N.htm

boooooo
i think if kobe can put a huge stretch togethre and get a few more 50point games that result in turning around the lakers, he should be back in the mvp picture.
I dont agree with the best team having the mvp. I would like to see what kobe would do with Amare/Marion/Diaw/Barbosa or at least players that would fit him better. Being the leader of the best team with the most help around you shouldnt make you a three time MVP.

In terms of scoring, yes. In terms of overall career performance, no. At least not yet.

kobe needs someone else and lakers will contend everyear. I hope somehow we can somehow get Rashard in the offseason in a SnT and get a decent pg.
Kobe is doing everything he can to get W's, i just hope mitch can put a team around him.

So your saying that RIGHT NOW, he's up there with Wilt and Jordan? So Kobe is a top 10 player of all time? HAHAHAHA! He can be, but his career is far from over. I'm a "hater" because I don't claim Kobe the king of basketball. You insecure bitch, calling someone a hater because they don't immediately agree with your viewpoint so you have to throw a label out there. Kobe has the potential to be one of the top 10 players of all time, but just because he is well on pace to being one of the greatest scorers of all time doesn't mean that right now I should put him in the catergory with legends like Wilt, Mike, and even Elgin. Let the man finish his career. Thats when you can truly analyze his career. These Kobe stans (not fans) kill me with that bullshit, just because you don't bow to this man.
And I'm not hating on 3 rings, but he won those rings with the most dominant player of that time. Thats not to say Kobe wasn't a big influence on those rings, because he was, but don't give me that 3 rings + great scorer = on par with Wilt and Mike. That is not to say he won't be win his career is over (I have to reiterate this because Kobe fans seem to only hear what they want) that he won't be one of the best to ever do it, but he is 28 and his career is far from over. Let him finish it.

Is he quite up there with Wilt and Jordan? no not quite but saying that kobe is not a top 10 player of all time even at this point is a valid fight. What he has done through 10 years of his career can can match or even better players careers like Jerry West, Dr J, Rick Barry. IMO opinion hes a notch still behind Bird,Magic,Jabar,Oscar,Russell and shaq but most would agree he is easily on pace to pass them. and with a couple more titles he could be up there with MJ and Wilt.
Jay please dont tell me that your not a kobe hater or at least was last year. Im not sure how you view him currently but i can find multiple posts in TL'06 of you disssing kobe and hopeing he fails. You used to nitpick every accomplishement for KB24 so thats y you are labeled a hater. Not because you dont agree with mine or others kobe opinions.

Kobe is selfish, a ball hog, shaq won those rings, hes to cocky, etc.... i was making a broad comment as to why a lot of people hate him and dont wanna see him be successful.... i said earlier his career isnt over and hes 28.... but hes doing things on the court few players have done so if he retired after this season, hes a hall of famer.... tho top 10 is debatable like everything else.... personally i think Wilt was the MDE Kobe has already passed Elgin Baylor tho btw.... Kobe is breaking or broke a lot of, if not all of Baylors laker records.... has 3 rings to Elgin's 0

Top 10 is really pushing it. 10 players in no order that right now can easily be considered better than Kobe at this point in his career.
MJ Bird Magic Wilt Kareem Russell Shaq West Elgin Olajuwon
That's just 10 off the top of my head. I'm sure I'm leaving out a bunch, plus there's a ton of debateables (sp). Kobe is definitely not top 10 yet, so everyone should calm down with that talk.
