Clippers Aim To Get Francis July 2, 2007 - 3:54 am L.A. Times - Moving to bolster the team at point guard, the Clippers are pursuing three-time All-Star Steve Francis, who could become a free agent this week, league and team sources said Sunday.
The Portland Trail Blazers , who acquired the eight-year veteran Thursday, are expected to buy out the final two years and $34.25 million of Francis' contract, freeing him to agree to terms elsewhere after he clears waivers. Teams cannot sign players until July 11.
General Manager Elgin Baylor and Coach Mike Dunleavy are also interested in Jason Hart, who joined the team late last season, and Brevin Knight, but Francis is potentially the team's highest-profile option.
The Clippers hope to sign Francis, 30, for a portion of the mid-level exception, reuniting him with his longtime friend, guard Cuttino Mobley.

Sounds like a good fit even though i think francis would be perfect in the Triangle.
J.Crittenton is labeled as the next francis (minus the cancer) and i think francis could help him out if knows his role on the team. Wouldnt mind francis being our 3rd option. with farmar and critt off the bench

As a Knick FA, Steve Francis was just terrible.... Glad he's gone.

As a former Rockets fan, I can honestly say that if you see Francis over a span of many games, you would be pulling hairs out of your head.
He isn't an off-court cancer really, he is just an on-court dumbass. The turnovers, the stupid shots, the over-dribbling, the shot clock violations. If Steve Francis was still a Rocket, I'd prolly have committed suicide by now.

Dude used to be sick then fell off for w/e reason. and him going to the knicks is a valid reason to suck. there francise sux. As a laker MLE pickup i wouldnt expect him to go back to his 18/8/7 ways. 14-16ppg 5rpg 5apg would be much better than anything a laker pg has done for us in a long time

His first seaon in Orlando, he put up good #s, the team overall sucked (and he was probably a big reason as to why, but the big numbers overshadowed it). Fell off completely after that, maybe it was b/c Cat was traded lol.
Francis is a loser. Ask any coach (with the exception of Rudy T) who has coached the guy. No team that has ever had him wants him back, and there is a reason for that.
