slight edge to the Blazers here. I think it is a solid move for the knicks, but the edge has to go to the blazers because they have the highest scoring duo in the league with melo and joe now and will be even tougher to beat. I love how teams are really trying to improve.

This is ass rape. Blazers by far.
Put it this way, he basically has traded
TRADES: SF Al Horford PG Sebastian Telfair PF Brendan Haywood PG Andre Miller 2010 Knicks 2nd
GETS: Knicks 2010 1st C Marcus Camby 2011 Nuggets 2nd
Not very good, IMO.

Blazers just because of the fact that he is a lock for the championship now.
Too bad he will be murdered by hardcap penalities in the offseason.

I don't get why everyone is screaming rape...it favors the Blazers more just because of the fact that he's a lock to win the championship now. But the 2010 Knicks pick is going to be good since the Knicks really suck - that's like a top 2 pick right now. Al Horford is a solid young player but not amazing. Marcus Camby is old and he's probably going to retire either this year or next year so his contract isn't that much of an issue.
Basically the core of the entire deal is just Al Horford for the top 2 pick. Al Horford is not a number 2 overall pick in this league so if you look at that...then the Knicks did a good job.

^^Meh, still could have gotten more, IMO. It's not rape the point where it should be disapproved, but it is rape to the point where the Knicks IMO could have gotten more.

JJ will turn into a 18 ppg player now that he has a much better surrounding but still a very good move IMO for the Blazers because they wanted to win now.

Makes sense for both teams, NY gets his first, POR gets a star.
With ATL adding SAR, Portland had to do something to counter it.
Makes for a better finals series IMO.

Dude what more could you ask for Joe Johnson/Al Horford? He got a freaking top 2 pick. Like I said - Al Horford is not going to be a star in this league...he's probably like a solid 3rd option or something like that. Joe Johnson is in his prime and will decline pretty soon and his stats are just inflated because he played for an average team with no options other than Duncan (yours) and a bad team (the Knicks). He made out well here. The slight advantage just goes to the Blazers because he will win the title now and ultimately what it boils down to is winning a championship.

i hope you're right lake-show in that i'm the lock to win, we'll have to see though, i still have to get past the mavs at some point.
i don't think that this was "rape" or whatever by any means. after this last sim the knicks have the worst record, which means they have the best chance at that #1 pick. and with his team being full of youngins anyway, the #1 pick is going to be far more valuable than joe johnson ever would be. horford is a decent player, but without trading him he never would have gotten his pick back. i think i win out short term, but he's gonna be better long term

I definitely give Blazers the win right now, but looking at what I gave compared to what I got between the two deals combined, I love it really. Horford is a PF who's defense drops if you actually play him at PF. Losing him was no big deal, and I turn him and a bunch of bench talent into Camby and a top 3 pick. That's a deal I'll make any day of the week, especially in a rebuilding season. You have to tear it all down to be able to build it back up.
By the way, I love any league that has more than one GM throwing around the term "rape" in a thread. Cause that's a term you like to see used lightly...nice to see this place has classed up since when the league first started.
