Jazz Trade:
JR. Smith Michael Beasley Taj Gibson Jazz 2011 1st Rounder
Sonics Trade:
Emeka Okafor
Alright I may be insane for trading Meka a day after taking this team, but looking it at, Meka and Parker just aren't enough - and I don't have a flexible cap situation or many picks to further build this team into a contender. So Meka had to go for some more young pieces to build on and probably Parker will too.
Beasley is sexy and VERY young, the Jazz first should be decent even with Okafor, Smith is a great young guard with a reasonable deal and Gibson is promising as well.

Emeka is the best player in the deal by far at this point. Beasley is a great young prospect and J.R had a great tc for me and was playing very well. Gibson doesn't suck and is very young with room to still improve. The pick is the question mark. If my team sucks then I am a clear loser, but if Emeka can really turn things around then I'll be very happy about it. Seer was great to deal with on this.

I definitely agree that the Jazz win this deal talent wise... No argument there.
But for me to turn this team from a decent playoff team into a contender I was bound to need more pieces to work with.. and moving Meka - and probably soon Parker, is just the price I'll pay to get younger and deeper thus allowing me to rework this squad.

Good all-around trade...I kinda like it for the Sonics, call me strange.

Anyone wanna re-think this with the Jazz' current record?

I want to rethink it with my current record. I never thought I would miss JR as much as I do. Hopefully I can get out of the top 5 but either way, that's the risk that you have to take. It was still good to deal with Sonics on this one.

No matter what ends up happening with the pick this will never be a bad trade for you because you got an MVP type player... and anytime you get the best player in the deal it's hard to say you lost the trade. All that will end up happening is that maybe it will be a little more "fair" of a trade now.

Looks like no one can call me strange now for liking this deal for the Sonics.

Okafor is still god-like.
